Program Summary
The TRIDENT II SWS is the primary strategic deterrent for both the US and the UK. SSP retains support responsibility for the entire SWS with the exception of Navy training of SSBN personnel, although we do support the TRIDENT II Training Facilities. The SWS must remain highly reliable and accurate, as demonstrated by flight test, to assure credibility. The current challenge is to maintain performance and safety within resources and implement SWS life extension to align with extended SSBN life.
