Mr. Michael Guidotti is the Shipboard Systems Chief Engineer at the Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs (SSP). In this role, he provides executive leadership for all aspects of the acquisition and sustainment of shipboard subsystems for all current and future generations of the Fleet Ballistic Missile strategic weapon system (SWS) and the guided-missile submarine (SSGN) attack weapon system (AWS).
Additionally, Mr. Guidotti oversees the total technical effort and lifecycle management of shipboard systems. He is the principle lead for the SWS Shipboard Systems Modernization Portfolio (SSMP). This portfolio was established to modernize the shipboard elements of the SWS and deliver responsive capabilities to the warfighter to ensure that the U.S. and UK can confidently rely on the SWS as a credible and effective strategic deterrent.

Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Guidotti was the Branch Engineer in SSP’s Fire Control and Guidance Subsystem Branch where he provided technical oversight of engineering, acquisition, and sustainment of the Fire Control and Shipboard Data subsystems of the SWS. During his 18-year tenure at SSP, he has led the Fire Control Sustainment and Targeting Section responsible for sustainment of all Fire Control and Targeting products as well as the production of Fire Control System elements for the Columbia-class submarine program.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Guidotti was the program manager and lead engineer for all Fire Control and Mission Planning software development, which supported the U.S. and UK Trident II SWS programs. He also served as the Senior Program Manager and Lead Engineer for the Fire Control System for the Columbia-class submarine program. Before joining SSP in 2005, Mr. Guidotti spent two years as an engineer in the Electrical Engineering department at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Mr. Guidotti holds a Master of Science in systems engineering from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a member of the Acquisition Corps and holds DAWIA certifications in Program Management (Advanced) and Engineering Technical Management (Practitioner) from the Defense Acquisition University.
